Ford Escort 2013 Shanghai Reveal
Ford just announced it’s new Concept at the Shanghai autoshow: The Ford Escort.
That name brings back a flood of images of my first car – purchased for only $500. Back in the good old days when on the way to band practice, I would fold down the back seat to put my Fender Jazz Bass, Hartke 3500 head, and 4×10 David Eden cabinet in the hatchback. Good times.
Lights, RED Scarlet, JimmyJIB!
When we stepped in studio at Stage3 in Warren to shoot the concept for press release, I was immediately intrigued by this great looking vehicle. At the time the name was unbeknownst to us, but at first sight, I knew this was going to be a winner for Ford.
The color alone was intriguing, and as you surveyed the fit and finish, you couldn’t help but notice the back seat was more than a little larger than the traditional Escort. Aimed at the Asian market, that makes total sense. Many owners are “escorted” around by their drivers on a daily basis.
As you will see in the footage we captured on the RED Scarlet, this vehicle is not your standard economy Ford. But, what a fun shoot to do in total secrecy! When we wrapped the video production, the vehicle was immediately packaged to be flown to Shanghai, China for it’s public debut at the Shanghai Autoshow.
And we were sworn to secrecy… until now! 😉
